Mexico's Tlalnepantla, China's Maanshan become sister cities
18/9/2008 17:52

The Mexican municipality of Tlalnepantla in the state of Mexico and the Chinese southeastern city of Maanshan have established a sister-city relationship to strengthen ties and exchanges, said an official statement yesterday.
Authorities said Tlalnepantla Mayor Marco Antonio Rodriguez Hurtado and Maanshan's Vice Mayor Wang Xiaoyan signed an agreement to that effect on Sept. 15 at the opening ceremony of the Maanshan Garden in Tlalnepantla.
"To talk about sisterhood is to talk about sharing values, strategies, resources and solutions to the problems we face in this global era," Hurtado said.
Hurtado also welcomed his Chinese counterpart to contribute his experiences in trade and economics, sports, education, tourism and culture "for the benefit of both cities."
Tlalnepantla, meaning the "middle land", is located in the northern part of the state of Mexico, while Maanshan is an industrial city in China's Anhui province, lying on the southern bank of Yangtz River.
