Six police have been detained for their involvement in a fatal fight in
Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, which led to the
death of a 22-year-old man.
The Public Security Bureau of Harbin said yesterday at a press conference the
victim named Lin Songling and his friends initially had a quarrel with police in
front of a bar at around 10 p.m. Saturday, blaming policeman Li Xinyu for
driving dangerously fast.
The quarrel developed into a fierce fight, leaving Lin dead at the scene and
several others from both sides injured, the bureau said.
The police, aged between 28 and 31, drove two cars to the bar after a private
get-together. They were schoolmates and colleagues.
All six police-turned suspects were captured within 12 hours after the
killing, the bureau said, adding it would handle the case impartially.
