A gunman robbed a jewelry shop in downtown Chengdu, capital of southwest
China's Sichuan Province, late last night, leaving one person injured.
A young man, wearing a cap, charged into the first floor of the Hualian Mall
on the Jianshe Road in downtown Chengdu around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, witnesses
told Xinhua. He held one hammer in one hand and a gun in the other.
He broke the glass shields of the Chow Tai Seng jewelry counter and fired two
shots. However, no one was injured in the mall, witnesses said.
The man took some jewelry and left the mall. He fired one more shot on the
street, and fled on an electricity-charged bicycle. One person was injured and
has already been sent to hospital.
An investigation into the case is under way, according to local police.
