Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group, the developer of Time Division
- Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), will make a sprint for
the China-patented 3G standard this year, Sina.com reported today.
The
report cited Datang's president Zhen Caiji as saying during the group's annual
work meeting that¡°developing TD-SCDMA will be Datang's most crucial task for the
year."
The task is also a hope of the country's telecom authority, which
is expected to issue the 3G licenses this year to fulfill its commitment that
the 3G networks will be up to serve the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wang
Xudong, minister of the Information Industry, in his congratulation letter to
the group's work meeting, urged Datang to make further accomplishments in
promoting the commercial use of TD-SCDMA.
He praised Datang for its
achievements in the latest TD-SCDMA network test.
Another task set for
2007 by Zhen is a jump in its overall sales by 40 percent.
The group's
subsidiary company, Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology Inc, has proposed a
share-float plan to the securities watchdog, which will review the proposal
tomorrow.
