EU to launch consultation with China on textiles
24/5/2005 9:36
The EU textiles committee has agreed to launch talks with China on the import
of two Chinese textile products.
The consultation will cover T-shirt and flax yarn with a final decision to be
made by the EU head office on Wednesday.
EU trade chief Peter Mandelson
will hold talks with China's chief textiles negotiator, Gao Hucheng, late
Tuesday in Brussels.
Mandelson has said EU will not restore quotas on
Chinese textiles, and they are seeking to reach an agreement with China without
taking special protection measures.
