A fair portion of Shanghai's expat community will be jetting back home for Christmas, yet a decent number should be remaining in the city over the 25th. One general concern among those who stay for Christmas is where the necessities of a Christmas feast are going to come from. However,  there are many places in Shanghai that are supplying just what most people need for their holiday meals.
Perhaps the most impressive Christmas deal is available at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Deli, which is stocking Christmas Hampers and turkeys. Available for pick up from December 23rd to the 25th, the 14-pound stuffed turkeys are going for 1,680 yuan (US$207.41) and are fit to feed six to eight people. The turkeys are accompanied by traditional stuffing, glazed yams, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a choice of Christmas plum pudding, apple pie, chocolate yule log or chestnut pie.
The hamper offered by the deli is priced at 1,580 yuan and comes with an assortment of goodies that are sure to please Christmas fans. The Hamper contains a traditional Christmas pudding, preserved fruits, homemade truffles, ginger Stollen, Christmas cookies, Panettone, preserved vanilla chestnuts and it is very suitably topped off with a bottle of Moet et Chandon Champagne.
The Hilton Hotel Deli on Huashan road is also offering Christmas treats but have avoided the hamper and gone for the typical stock of gingerbread houses, pudding and cookies. A small turkey at the Hilton's Deli is priced at 560 yuan and a larger one is set to cost 980 yuan.
For those with a less traditional idea of Christmas dinner, the Hilton Deli also has Australian lamb and American sirloin beef for slightly reduced Christmas prices. The Hilton asks that people order 48 hours in advance to pick up their Christmas essentials.
City Supermarket is also keen on supplying the stationary expats this Christmas, selling turkeys for 900 yuan for one ten-kilogram piece and providing Christmas chocolates.
However, these are not the only options for Christmas meal shoppers. The Shangri-La and the Westin Tai Ping Yang also have delicatessens that should be filled with the necessary western elements of any good Christmas feast.
