Forbidden City Comes to Shanghai
The Palace Museum in Beijing for the first time has sent some of China¡¯s most precious cultural treasures outside the walls of the Forbidden City.

The star exhibit of the whole show is a Song dynasty painting entitled "Singing while walking on the field path".

For centuries, traditional Chinese ink-wash painters and Western artists have been working in parallel. It's difficult to decide which art form is truly superior, but it can be said that compared with the sophistication of Western oil paintings, Chinese ink brushworks do seem to be more simple and straightforward.

The Shanghai Museum is saving its best show of the year for last. An exhibition featuring more than 100 precious artworks, some of them on loan from the Palace Museum in Beijing, will start from December 30.
