Shanghai Daily news

Only drivers with experience and a clean driving record will be assigned to the upcoming Special Olympics in early October, Shanghai's transport authority said yesterday.
The Urban Management Bureau said it would only employ drivers with five years or more experience and a clean driving record for the past three years. During the games, it will use more than 1,000 vehicles including 350 buses, 600 cars and 70 vans for the games.
Three big bus service operators in Shanghai, Dazhong, Jinjiang and Bashi companies, will be the designated vehicle service providers of the event, said bureau officials.
The bureau is also organizing 50 specially fitted minibuses and 90 refitted taxis for disabled athletes.
The transit bus, taxi, Metro and long-distance bus service authorities have been asked by the bureau to give priority to helping transport the athletes.
About five percent of the local 40,000-plus taxis will also help during the Special Olympics.
More than 10,000 athletes with disabilities from 160 countries and regions are coming for the games which will be staged in 30 sporting venues throughout the city.
"We are facing big challenges to ensure that traffic will flow smoothly throughout the games as they are being staged at the same time as the FIFA Women's World Cup and the dates include the weeklong National Day holiday," said Xu Yiming, the marketing department director of Dazhong.
