Staff of the Amway Corporation are trying to make 108 special wishes come true, Shanghai Daily reported.

The wishes have been made by 108 mentally handicapped people, and 108 of Amway's staff - they are also Special Olympic volunteers - have been persuaded by the company to help out and have the wishes fulfilled by September 12.

The company has been collecting wishes from June 24, 100 days before the Games' opening ceremony, through Shanghai Evening Post.

"Most wishes came from the Sunshine Homes, an organization for the mentally challenged between the age of 16 and 35, and special schools for intellectual disabled children," said Zhang Yuan, an official with the company's public relations department.

The wishes reflected the desire of the handicapped to adapt to modern society. Some people asked for stationery, while some wanted a visit to an aquarium or a museum.

Special Olympics' leader Xu Chuang, who is also with the company, said his wish was to publish a book written by her mother. The book records Xu's life especially the changes that happened after he began working for the Special Olympics.

"My mother has done so much for me and I want to thank her by publishing the book," said Xu.

His wish has been fulfilled by the company's public relations department.

The company's Special Olympic volunteers have been attending workshops and events related to the Games since June.
