Shanghai Daily news

The torch relay for the Shanghai 2007 Special Olympics moves today to Sydney, its last international station, after the Flame of Hope traveled through Greece, Egypt, Britain, the United States, South Korea and Japan.

The flame is traveling around the world as part of a relay that began June 29 in Athens as a precursor for the Games to be held in October. The Law Enforcement Torch Run of the Special Olympics involves 21 cities in eight countries across five continents.

The torch run in Australia will start in Luna Park, next to the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The Flame of Hope will be escorted by Special Olympics athletes from China and Australia, Chinese police and Australian law-enforcement officials through a series of landmarks in Sydney.

The "Flying Dragon" torch will finally arrive at the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney after its trip past the Sydney Harbor Bridge, Chinese Garden, Sydney City Council, Parliament House and Admiralty House.

The Sydney run will cover about six kilometers. More than 30 Australian Special Olympic athletes and law-enforcement officials are expected to take part in the event.

Shanghai Special Olympics athletes Hua Xiaofeng and Ye Shihua had a trial run accompanied by Chinese policemen Zhu Jiong and Li Yuyun.
