Shanghai has offered its 457 Special Olympics athletes electronic health records to help them identify latent illnesses, according to the organizing committee of the Special Olympics.

They are also expected to receive a health check every year, which will inform them and their family members of their health condition.

The E-health records are just a trial, which is expected to eventually cover all people with intellectual disabilities in the city's sunshine homes, Special Olympics officials said.

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, which began on October 2, will wrap up tomorrow.
