The city government should lower public transport fares and set up more bus-only lanes along downtown streets to benefit low-income commuters, several delegates to the Shanghai People's Congress suggested yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported.

Zhou Xiuhua, an SPC delegate who works for Dazhong Transport Group, submitted a bill yesterday proposing a law to ensure more government funding for public transport. "The city's public transport can hardly please the public."
