Tour will mark 1,000 days to big event

World Expo organizers will launch a nationwide tour with a mix of history and
high tech to mark the 1,000-day countdown to the event on Sunday.
Shanghai will be the first stop of the tour. The 1,300-square-meter
exhibition will go to major cities in China, including Beijing and
Guangzhou.
The exhibition is divided into two parts - the 156-year
history of world expos and the preparation for Shanghai Expo, displaying many
precious historical files, pictures and sculptures.
The multimedia
display will show visitors how expos have changed and driven the world forward,
looking at areas like science, culture and communications.
The local
exhibition will be open to the public on Monday at the Shanghai Urban Planning
Exhibition Center on People's Square.
The admission fee for the event is
30 yuan (US$4).
Other events in 1,000-day countdown celebration will
include:
A lecture by Vicente Loscertales, the secretary general of the
International Expositions Bureau, in the Shanghai Library on Sunday at
3pm.
A concert in the Gongqing Forest Park on Sunday that begins at
6:30pm.
