Shanghai World Expo organisers today announced the establishment of a team of
seven renowned experts and scholars to promote the event to the public.
The team is set to tour major cities in China to deliver lectures on the
Expo, announced organisers at a ceremony held at Shanghai Library.
Vicente Loscertales, secretary general of the International Expositions
Bureau, delivered a speech about public participation in the event.
Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination, also addressed the ceremony.
Zhou said the lectures will help the public focus more on the Expo, which
will lead to more support and participation.
The seven members have participated in a series of lectures at Shanghai
Library including Wu Zhiqiang, chief planner of the World Expo Site, Wu
Jianzhong, curator of the Shanghai Library, Chen Xiejun, curator of Shanghai
Museum, and Huang Yaocheng, deputy director of the Expo Bureau.
The team's launch ceremony and Loscertales' lecture were also part of the
celebrations of the 1,000-day countdown of World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
