The Shanghai government yesterday called for public submissions for World Expo 2010 themes and plans.

The theme should reflect the spirit and image of the city and embody at least one aspect of the Expo's sub-themes--the integration of different cultures in cities, a booming urban economy, science and technology innovation, urban renovation and the interaction of urban and rural areas.
