More than 1,000 buses canceled as snow returns

Shanghai has canceled more than 1,000 long-distance buses today as more snow
started falling in the city, Eastday.com reported.
The cancellations
mainly affect buses heading to the provinces of Anhui, Henan, Hubei and Hunan,
places now experiencing a new round of snowstorms, the report said.
The
blizzards have covered highways in these regions with ice, the report
said.
More than 5,000 bus passengers are expected to be affected by the
cancellations, the report added.
People can call Shanghai Long Distance
Central Bus Station (66050000) and Shanghai Long Distance South Bus Station
(54353535) for more information, the report said.
Meanwhile, trains
departing from Shanghai to northern China are operating normally, but trains to
the south are still hampered by the snowstorm, the report said.
At least
six trains have been canceled today.
Trains to Hengyang, Hunan, Guiyang,
Guizhou Province, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province and Fuyang, Anhui, have been
canceled today, the report said.
The train to Chongqing Municipality in
southwestern China will also be canceled today while trains to Nanchang, Jiangxi
Province, will be canceled from today to February 5, the report
added.
Passengers can go to Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South
Railway Station for ticket refunds.
Heavy snow is forecast to fall in
Shanghai this afternoon. Sleet and light snow will continue tomorrow, the
Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said today.
The National Meteorological
Center issued an orange alert for strong snow and sleet at 6am today, warning
that heavy snowfalls will hit Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang,
Jiangxi, Sichuan and Yunnan over a six-hour period.
