Chen Wen: Courier at the Shanghai Xianda Express Delivery Service Co Ltd

'It took me more than three hours to reach Baoshan District - two hours longer than usual. '

Chen Wen, from Anhui Province, has been working as a courier in the city for more than two years but this was the hardest time he experienced since he began work.

Chen said although he had never experienced a snow fall as heavy as this year before, his courier firm still wanted to have business as usual but with delays.

"For the first two days after snow, it took me more than three hours to reach Baoshan District - two hours longer than usual," he said. He rode his moped to the suburbs but he could only make two deliveries a day.

Chen said most clients understood the delays and would not seek compensation if mail or packages reached their destinations later than scheduled.

"I told my customers about the delays beforehand but sometimes I could not calculate the exact time because of the weather. A few clients complained about my cold hands when they took their packages from me," Chen said.

"We also refused clients who wanted urgent deliveries - we just told them that we could not make rush deliveries in the snow," he said.
