Downtown roads close for tourism fest parade

Several downtown streets will be blocked to traffic this weekend for the
Shanghai Tourism Festival parade. Key roads will be temporarily off limits to
all vehicles and North-South Elevated Road exit ramps to downtown streets will
be closed when necessary to control traffic flow. According to the plan
issued by the police office yesterday, the following streets will be
affected: From 9:45pm on Saturday through 1am on Sunday, the section of
Huaihai Road between Xizang and Chongqing roads and the section of Longmen Road
between Huaihai and Jinling roads will be closed to vehicles. Longmen Road
between Jinling Road M. and Huaihai Road M. will be blocked from 10am to 9:30pm
on Sunday. From 5:30pm to 9:30pm on Sunday, the following streets will be
closed: Huaihai Road between Xizang Road S. and Songshan Road; Liulin Road
between Jinling Road M. and Shouning Road; Pu'an Road between Jinling Road M.
and Taoyuan Road. Wangting Road will also be closed. During road closures on
Sunday, public transport buses will take alternative routes starting at 10am on
Longmen Road, while on the other affected streets the alternative routes will
start at 6pm. The section between Songshan Road and Shaanxi Road S. on
Huaihai Road M. will be closed from 7pm to 9pm on Sunday, while buses on that
street will change routes starting at 7:30pm. No vehicles are allowed to
travel west on Huaihai Road from Xizang Road between 5:30pm and 9:30pm on
Sunday. The same ban also takes effect between 7pm and 9:30pm on the east part
of Huaihai Road starting from Shaanxi Road S. Except for the Ruijin Road and
Chongqing Road intersections with Hauihai Road M., where buses and bikes are
allowed to pass, the section between Xizang Road and Shaanxi Road S. will be
closed to vehicle crossings. From 6pm to 9:30pm, only buses are allowed on
Jinling Road between Xizang and Chongqing roads. The same traffic control
measures also exist for Changle Road between Chongqing and Shaanxi roads on
Sunday.
