The Sixth Shanghai International Arts Festival will offer more than 20,000
preferential tickets starting tomorrow. Tickets will go on sale at 9am at the
box offices of Shanghai Art Theater, Shanghai Circus World, Shanghai East Asia
Exhibition Hall and Chongming Movie Theater. Individuals are restricted to a
maximum purchase of two tickets. The one-month festival opens on October
15. About 70 percent of the festival's 68 programs are on the preferential
ticket list. Ticket prices range from 10 yuan (US$1.21) to 100 yuan. Discounts
are available, in some cases up to 75 percent off the original price. "We
will also offer preferential packages to social groups like the Shanghai Trade
Union and the Shanghai Blind Society to ensure common people have access to fine
art performances," said Ju Pingxiang, director of the festival's ticket
center. The preferential ticket system was introduced at last year's festival
- nearly 10,000 discounted tickets were sold, which accounted for about 25
percent of total sales. For more details, please contact the center at
6272-0455.
