A magnificent fireworks show at Century Park and a dance drama based on a
classical Chinese novel at the Shanghai Grand Theater kicked off the Sixth
Shanghai International Arts Festival last night.
The pyrotechnical display,
presented by French-based Group F Fireworks Co, also started "French Culture in
Shanghai," a celebration combining the arts festival and the on-going "France
Year in China" program.
The team behind the show also created magnificent
millennium celebration at the Eiffel Tower as well as 2004 Olympic Games in
Athens.
Scheduled to run through November 18, the annual arts festival will
include 60 programs from nearly 20 countries and regions this year.
Featured
artists include big names like Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and French conductor
Christopher Eschenbach.
