Container transports make test runs at the Shanghai Yangshan Deep-water Port south of the city. Yangshan officials said yesterday that the facility has received authorization from the central government to become China’s first bonded port, a distinction that will enhance the site’s competitive ability by allowing many shippers to avoid customs charges.
