Central government approved the project
2002
Construction of the first phase started

The first phase is operational with an expected capacity of 3 million TEUs a year.
The end of 2006
The second phase will be completed, increasing the capacity to 5.5 million TEUs.
2010
The port is estimated to handle 10 million TEUs a year. In the long run Annual capacity is expected to be more than 20 million TEUs.
