Crowne Plaza is now hosting a Mexican Buffet Fiesta to
give "south-of-the-border" food enthusiasts the chance to satisfy their cravings
for authentic, hot and flavorful Mexican cuisine.
Guests can tantalize their
taste buds with a wide range of authentic Mexican dishes produced by two guest
Mexican chefs and immerse themselves in an exotic atmosphere specially created
for the event.
The Crowne Cafe is decked out in party decorations that set
the "south-of-the-border" mood to the beat of genuine Mexican music under red,
white, yellow, and green streamers.
Hot, spicy and colorful - much like the
country from where it hails - Mexican cuisine is one of the richest and most
varied in the world. The characteristics of Mexican food depend on who cooks it
and how it is cooked but it can be done to suit all palates.
Mexican guest
chefs Roberto and Sergio have been invited especially for the fiesta which runs
until Sunday. Because the very best ingredients are required, the guest chefs
have brought Mexican chilies and tortillas to ensure guests get the true taste
of traditional Mexican cuisine.
"Mexican food is 4,000 years old, and in 40
centuries the Mexican people have created an astonishing cuisine with some 700
dishes. Mexican food is synonymous with chili but, of course, not all the dishes
have chili and, furthermore, 80 percent of the chilies are sun-dried and smoked;
thus not hot, only full of flavor," says Roberto.
The ideal Mexican dish is a
harmonious blend of the spicy, the subtle, the sweet and sour and is equally
satisfying to eye, nose and palate.
The fiesta's dishes include Chicken in
Mole Poblano, Aztec Tortilla, Fish Yucatan, Seafood Camperche and Chiapaneco
Chicken Soup which are among the most famous and which are recommended by the
guest chefs.
Chicken in Mole Poblano is acclaimed as the national dish of
Mexico. It's said that once one has tried it, he/she is hooked for life.
With
roasted tomatoes, a touch of chipotle chili and chicken breasts, Chiapaneco
Chicken soup is one of the most famous of all Mexican soups.
All guests are
recommended to sample a variety of traditional Mexican dishes including Chicken
Enchiladas (layers of shredded chicken breasts, corn tortilla, onions, olives,
spices, green chili sauce and topped with Mexican cheese).
While Mexican food
is reason enough to attend the fiesta there are is also Mexico's national drink
tequila for each guest enjoying the buffet dinner.
The all-you-can-eat buffet
dinner is 188 yuan plus service charge for each diner. Children under five eat
for free (provided they are accompanied by two adults) and every sixth paying
adult eats free of charge.
