Master's degree from the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University

Chen Liang, a master from the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University, confesses that he is lucky to be Chen Jialing's son.
Having his own studio in a three-room apartment in the downtown area on Changning Road bought for him by his father, Chen doesn't have to worry about where "tomorrow's bread" is coming from.
Indeed, many of his classmates had to abandon their dreams about a career in art because of financial problems.
Now a young teacher at his university, Chen is totally involved in the ceramics, paintings and installations that make up his art world.
"Frankly speaking, I have benefited a lot from my father's financial support," says the 29-year-old. "It's true that my artistic path has been easier than that of some of my peers."
While many art academy graduates shy away from traditional art genres, Chen sees only the enchantment embodied in works created out of China's ancient cultural heritage.
"Both my father and I have been lost together in the firing of the ceramics," he says. "Yet we do the work separately. I have my own interests and tastes."
Today, Chen's biggest wish is to have a solo exhibition.
"But I always remember my father's warning: 'It's easier to have an exhibition than it is to accumulate some of your quality works'," he says.
