More than 400 officials and business professionals today attended the promotion meeting of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China held in Le Merdien Pacific Tokyo in Japan.

The promotion meeting, themed as "World Expos: from Aichi to Shanghai," is a part of the "Shanghai Weeks" campaign, aiming at introducing the Expo Shanghai to Japanese people.

The organisers chose Japan as the first stop on its overseas promotional campaign, which could also enhance the cooperation between China and Japan, said Wang Yi, representative of the embassy of the People's Republic of China in Japan, during the meeting.

Shanghai was eager to absorb Aichi's experiences, Wang added.

Takamura, a Japanese organising official, said the "Shanghai Weeks" event was a great idea that would help Japanese people learn more about the glamour of Shanghai and the Expo.

The organisers also invited Japanese enterprises and residents to participate or visit the Expo. It is expected that among the 70 million visitors to the Expo 2010, one million to 1.5 million will come from Japan.

On that same day, the Expo poster show in the Shinagawa Station in Tokyo and the tourism promotion were launched.

The promotion meeting was organised by the Shanghai Information Office and the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.

The last Expo was held in Aichi, Japan in 2005.
