A China Eastern Airlines plane, the "Expo," decked out in 2010 World Expo
insignia lands at Narita International Airport in Tokyo today, making the
beginning of Shanghai's campaign to promote the event.
The A340-600 plane, provided by China Eastern, the first official global
partner of World Expo 2010 Shanghai, is painted with the Expo's emblem and theme
-- "Better City, Better Life."
Specially organised by the company, the green and orange "Expo" plane had its
first fight to Japan.
Meanwhile, an eight-car "Expo Express" train painted with the logo and theme
is running on the railway between Tokyo and Kanagawa, too.
Some 320 photos of Shanghai and winning works from the Shanghai International
Poster Competition will be posted in the carriages of the train and the stations
along the railway.
The promotion event, "Shanghai Weeks," will run from March 16 to April 30. It
also includes tourism promotion, playing local movies in Japan and expo-related
business talks between the two countries.
