The International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) will present a global show to
introduce the history and the future of the World Expos. The show will treat the
promotion of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai an important part, said Vicente
Loscertales, BIE's secretary general who was in Shanghai for a three-day visit
yesterday.
Loscertales said the show would be presented in 12 to 14 cities in five
continents and would stay one to two months in every stop.
"The introduction of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai will be an important part
of the show," said Loscertales, who stressed the significance of overseas
communication and promotion.
"Shanghai takes an excellent initiative to have staged the promotion campaign
in Japan. Its international communication is on sound and sensible bases at the
moment," said Loscertales.
Last week, "Shanghai Weeks", a campaign to promote the World Expo 2010
Shanghai, was unveiled in Tokyo, Japan. The event will last for one month and a
half.
Meanwhile, Loscertales gave the preparations for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai
a positive assessment.
"Shanghai has finished the phase of designing and planning. Now it is time to
implement all the theories," said Loscertales.
He said Shanghai was "well-prepared" as the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination had Hong Hao appointed the general director and recruited a team of
professionals to enhance its strength. Besides, tasks such as eight special
regulations, theme development, Best Urban Practice Region, Online Expo and the
Fifth Forum on World Expo 2010 Shanghai were carried out strictly to timetable
of the master plan.
Loscertales also reinforced the role of youth in preparations for the World
Expo.
"Young people can contribute a lot to the Expo and benefit most from the
event," said Loscertales.
The bureau plans to send a batch of volunteers to Zaragoza in 2008 to learn
the "Expo mentality" and the know-how of the volunteer job.
