Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau is posting the local standard regulation it has drafted on the government website www.shzj.gov.cn and inviting public advice from today.
The local rule is a supplement to the national standard regulations, officials said.
For example, the national regulation on umbrella security standard only states that an umbrella of good quality must not be a threat to the safety of people when it is in use.
The local rule may specify the standards on the umbrella's cover and its anti-ultraviolet radiation function if it is labeled to possess this ability.
