Synopsis:
After years of absence due to war and its aftermath, Sai, a 50 year-old military man, returns to his village for his only daughter’s wedding. This happy event makes him remember his own marriage, along time ago: young Sai was 12 years old, the bride Tuyet was 18. This arranged marriage was a failure for Sai. Tuyet tried to make the best of things. The film retraces this couple’s life, which runs parallel to historic developments that are largely shaped by the long and destructive Vietnam wars.
