ALIEN VS PREDATOR£¨AVP£©
Synopsis: The iconic
monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever battle each other on
Earth in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. The discovery of an ancient pyramid buried under
the Antarctic ice sends a team of scientists and adventurers to the frozen
continent. There, they make an even more terrifying discovery: two alien races
at war. No matter who wins, we lose. An adventure begins when billionaire
industrialist Charles Bishop Weyland gathers a team of archaeologists,
scientists and security experts, led by environmentalist and adventurer Alexa
"Lex" Woods, to investigate a "heat bloom" emanating from deep under
Antarctica.
They discover a pyramid bearing a mixture of Aztec, Egyptian and
Cambodian cultures. Inside the pyramid they find a matrix of chambers so
technologically advanced that it becomes obvious that an extraterrestrial
influence has been at work there for thousands of years. The chamber walls
reconfigure unexpectedly, trapping members of the team and cutting them off from
their colleagues.
Moving from chamber to chamber, the horrific truth finally
reveals itself: Predators have been keeping alive a captive Alien Queen who lays
eggs at 100 year intervals. Young Predators warriors are tested by fighting the
Alien offspring. The team stumbles into the middle of an incredible rite of
passage - and a war between Alien and Predators.
MELINDA AND MELINDA
Synopsis: A man dining with
two famous writers relates a story and asks them whether they think it's a
comedy or a tragedy. Told in split narratives, Melinda and Melinda follows that
man's anecdote, which involves a woman and the various couplings and romantic
entanglements among her friends. "MELINDA AND MELINDA" combines romantic comedy
and drama in a way that Woody Allen, unique among filmmakers, likes to contrast.
It takes place in Manhattan and chronicles a pair of crises that give great
reign to the funny and serious talents of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Will Ferrell, Jonny
Lee Miller, Radha Mitchell, Amanda Peet, Chlo? Sevigny and Wallace Shawn. All
the usual Allen areas are explained-the fragility of love, marital infidelity,
sophisticated romance, the inability to communicate. As a character in the movie
puts it, "He's despondent, he's desperate, he's suicidal. All the comic elements
are in place."
ROBOTS
Synopsis: In the film you'll meet
memorable bots Rodney Copperbottom, a young genius inventor who dreams of
helping robots everywhere; Cappy, a beautiful, dynamic and savvy bot with whom
Rodney is instantly smitten; the nefarious corporate tyrant Ratchet who locks
horns with Rodney; Bigweld, a master inventor who has lost his way; and a group
of misfit bots known as the Rusties, led by Fender and Piper Pinwheeler.
Fender's head, arms, and legs routinely fall off at the most inopportune
moments. As Rodney fulfills Fender's ongoing need for repairs, the two become
fast friends. Piper is Fender's tomboy kid sister, who surprises everyone with
her determination and strength.
The result is a timeless, comedic tale that
pushes the boundaries of animation while introducing characters rich with
physical humor and soul, and a heart-warming story that proves that a robot can
shine no matter what he or she is made of.
