Conveniently located near the corner of Changle and Huashan roads, this one bedroom, one living room apartment is full of potential. It is in a charming, although slightly ramshackle, old building but it has its own private entrance.
The property overlooks a sizable garden area, with a private patio space adjoining the kitchen area. Double doors open onto the patio, allowing for good ventilation whilst cooking. The kitchen is small but open and there is room for a dining table in it.
The living area has been tastefully refurbished, with dark wood floors and soft lighting. Whilst not huge, the space is ample for a single person. There is currently no furniture in the apartment but the landlord says this will be provided.
The bedroom is located in an upstairs loft area, with a low hanging roof. This room is just big enough for a double bed and anyone over 1.8 meters tall will have trouble standing upright.
Another drawback is the location of the bathroom which, although spacious and modern, is only accessible from outside the front door. Only those confident of braving Shanghai's extreme weather will find this is not a problem given those all too familiar cold winter mornings and nights.
