This week we look at a property in the Shimao Riviera Garden in Pudong where apartments come in a wide range of sizes and shapes, but the featured property is a three-bedroom residence with views across the Huangpu River.
The marble-floored living area is pleasant and cool for summer but this may be a little bit of a problem in the cold of winter as there are no rugs covering it. Nonetheless, the living space is wide and open and offers stunning views of the Bund.
Wall-to-wall carpeting is used in the bedrooms and the two non-master bedrooms are of an ample size. There’s a bathroom with a toilet and shower between them.
The master bedroom also has views of the Bund and has a large closet area and adjoining ensuite, with a jacuzzi tub and large shower. Initially puzzled by the presence of two toilets, a closer investigation reveals one is a bidet. From the jacuzzi one can look out across the river, however it might take some time to get used to feeling so “exposed.”
Smeg appliances are used in the kitchen and separate quarters for a housekeeper are behind this area.
While it would be a great apartment, the furniture and decor are not up to the high standard of the location. Red curtains with gold trim, mismatched dining and living furnishings and plain ugly finishings feature everywhere. The estate agent says the landlord will not replace anything but may remove items if the tenants have their own furniture.
The Shimao Riviera Garden complex is well-known for its wave pool, particularly popular with residents and their friends in the hot summer months. It has a full range of amenities including an indoor pool, fitness center and tennis courts.
