A delegation of the Kuomintang party from Taizhong City of Taiwan visited
Xiamen City, which faces Taiwan across the Taiwan Straits, on Wednesday.
The visit, part of a program to promote relations Kuomintang and the
Communist Party of China, is mainly aimed at a better understanding of the
investment environment in Xiamen. The delegation visited two Taiwan-invested
companies and talked with Taiwan investors in the mainland city.
There are 2,340 Taiwan-invested companies in Xiamen. Many Taiwan businessmen
have moved their families to the port city.
Zeng Qinzhao, owner of an electronic company told the delegation that though
his company is based in Taipei, Taiwan, thereal boom of his business happened
after he invested in Xiamen 14 years ago.
"The mainland's reform and opening up practices over the past 20 years have
fueled economic growth and created social stability,which should serve as an
example for the development of Taiwan," he told delegation members.
