Wen arrives in Czech Republic

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Prague yesterday for the start of a
two-day visit to the Czech Republic aimed at furthering bilateral
cooperation. "I believe my visit will promote understanding and friendship
between the two peoples and strengthen cooperation in various fields," Wen
said. The premier will meet President Vaclav Klaus, Senate President Premysl
Sobltka and President of the Chamber of Deputies Lubomir Zaoralek. He will also
hold talks with Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek and witness the signing of several
cooperative deals. (Xinhua)
China, Czech sign documents on
bilateral cooperation China and the Czech Republic signed 14
documents on bilateral cooperation in various fields yesterday. The documents
were signed on the sidelines of a visit by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to the
country. Wen, who was present at the signing ceremony together with his Czech
counterpart Jiri Paroubek, signed the first document -- the Joint Statement of
the People's Republic of China and the Czech Republic. Six of the other 13
documents, signed by a group of Chinese and Czech officials, included
cooperation agreements in culture, forestry, tourism, food processing and mutual
protection of investments. The rest were commercial agreements between
enterprises of the two countries. After the signing ceremony, Wen met with a
group of representatives of Czech entrepreneurs together with Paroubek and
briefed them on China's economic situation and investment policies.
