Wang Daohan (1915-2005)
Wang Daohan, the mainland's chief negotiator on Taiwan affairs and former Shanghai Mayor, died in Shanghai's Ruijin Hospital on December 24, aged 90. He helped open the door to cross-Straits talks in the early 1990s.

The funeral of Wang Daohan, president of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), was held on December 30 in Shanghai Longhua Funeral House.

Thousands of officials and Shanghai residents attended the Friday morning funeral of Wang Daohan, a former Shanghai mayor who served as the country's long-time envoy on Taiwan affairs. Wang died on December 24 at the age of 90.
