China's political consultative system can help avoid "color revolution" -
turmoil that has troubled some central Asian nations, launched by foreign
hostile forces, a senior adviser said yesterday.
The deliberative democracy mechanism of the Chinese People's Political
Consultative Conference is a major channel for citizens' orderly involvement in
political, economic and social affairs, said Li Junru, a member of the CPPCC.
The advantages of this system should be promoted to help meet
democracy-related challenges both at home and abroad, especially challenges from
a possible "color revolution," said Li. He is deputy president of the Party
School of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, a CPC think tank.
Li addressed a plenary meeting of the CPPCC National Committee in Beijing.
"The advisory body should focus on those problems affecting the people's
interests and give the people a rational and legal way to voice their demands,"
he said.
