China's top advisory body will wrap up its annual full session in
Beijing this afternoon after discussing state issues of common concern and a
report on the work of the advisory body.
More than 2,100 advisors from
across the country have attended the Fifth Session of the 10th National
Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which
opened on March 3.
The CPPCC members have heard and discussed a report on
government work by Premier Wen Jiabao, reports on the work of the Supreme
People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the drafts of a
property right law and corporate income tax law.
The advisors also
discussed a work report submitted by the Standing Committee of the CPPCC
National Committee, and put forward numerous proposals. The advisors attended
three plenary meetings that focused on the economy, social and cultural
development, and political construction.
Founded in 1949, the CPPCC
National Committee serves as a think tank for the government and for the
country's legislative and judicial organs. Delegates include members of the
Communist Party of China, non-Communist parties of China and people with no
party affiliations.
