Chinese premier, Japanese emperor agree friendly ties benefit both countries

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Japanese Emperor Akihito at the Imperial Palace yesterday.

The two reviewed the development of Sino-Japanese relations and agreed that the harmonious co-existence of the two peoples is conducive to the two countries, Asia and the world as a whole.

Both sides voiced the hope that the two countries will make joint efforts to realize the goal of peaceful co-existence, long-lasting friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development.

Wen arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day official visit, the first by a Chinese premier in seven years.
