BOCOG has urged improvements in technology preparations for the
forthcoming Olympic Games.
At its 96th Executive Board meeting yesterday, the topic was discussed at
length.
After hearing updates on the technology preparations for the Beijing Olympics
(Aug. 8-24) and Paralympics (Sept. 6-17), the board stressed that awareness of
the mission and responsibility should be boosted and great importance should be
attached to the tasks. Stable technology guarantees, as well as the concept of
"High-tech Olympics" and quality services should be highlighted; operations,
strategies and work procedures should be upgraded to ensure that Games-time
technical equipment is sensitive, responsive, available and reliable.
Responsibilities for every position should be made clear, all staff members
should undergo training, emergency-response measures should be in place and
rehearsals and tests should be strengthened, it was stressed at the meeting.
The board also heard a report on preparatory work for a large expo under the
theme of "One World One Dream."
Preparations by the technology staff of the Beijing Organizing Committee for
the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) are on schedule. The staff have provided
necessary technical support and services for 44 Olympic and Paralympic test
events and carried out the first technical rehearsal from March 31 to April
