Canadian FM to attend Beijing Olympics

Canadian Foreign Minister David Emerson will lead the Canadian government
delegation to attend the Beijing Olympcis including the opening ceremony, said a
statement issued by his office yesterday. "I am very much looking forward to
attending the Games and supporting our Canadian athletes," Emerson said in the
statement, "It will be a tremendous experience to see them compete with the best
in the world." He will be accompanied by Helena Guergis, secretary of state
for foreign affairs and international trade. While in Beijing from August 7
to August 11, Emerson will tour the Olympic Village and the Canada Olympic
House, and meet with Canadian athletes and their families.
