Pakistan named four taekwondo players yesterday for participation later this month in the qualifiers for the next year's Olympics, newspapers reported today.

The Pakistani squad, currently in training at Army Gymnasium in Rawalpindi, will feature in the World Qualification Tournament for the Beijing Olympics 2008 to be held in Manchester, Britain, from Sept. 28 to 30, the DAWN newspaper reported.

The four players are Faheem Fawad Butt, Kashif Khan, Samia Imdad and Kiran Bano, said the report, quoting Secretary of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Wasim Ahmed Janjua.

Taekwondo coach Faisal Mehmood left for South Korea on Monday to attend a two-month coaching course in this martial sport at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, according to the official.

Mehmood has been a taekwondo gold-medalist for Pakistan in the ninth and 10th South Asian Games.
