The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), said yesterday in Lagos that
it had concluded plans to inaugurate the Beijing chapter of the club ahead of
the August Olympics. Rafiu Oladipo, NFSC's President-General, said the
Beijing fans were being organized to cheer the Super Falcons and the U-23 team
to victory, according to the report of the News Agency of Nigeria. "NFSC will
be visiting Beijing, China, soon to launch its chapters ahead of the Olympic
Games," he said. Both the Super Falcons and the U-23 team have qualified for
the football tournaments of the Games. Oladipo said Nigerians who are
residents in China would be mobilised to the venues of the Games to give the
necessary support to the country's contingent during the Olympics. "Nigeria
is noted for football and we shall be supporting our team to excel in the
event," he said. Falcons are riding on the backs of Black Queens of Ghana to
China while the U-23 team also edged out Ghana's Black Meteors to book the
ticket. Nigeria won a gold at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic
Games.
