Olympic torch relay to set off in Jiangxi Province

The Olympic torch relay in central China's Jiangxi Province will kick off
Wednesday in the cities of Ruijin, Jinggangshan and Nanchang, provincial
government official said today at a press conference. A total of 624
torchbearers will run the route during the 3-day relay, of which 377 are Jiangxi
local residents. Ruijin, the first stop in Jiangxi, is known as the cradle of
the People's Republic of China and the starting point of the famous Long March
of the Red Army. The torch relay in Jinggangshan will start from the historic
site of Huangyangjie, and pass through Jinggangshan Revolutionary Mesuem, which
preserves precious relics used by Chairmen Mao during his sojourn there. The
last leg in Jiangxi Province is in the capital city of Nanchang, where the torch
will pass through the first University during the tour, Nanchang
University. After the tour in Jiangxi, the Olympic torch will carry on its
journey in Wenzhou, the first stop of Zhejiang Province on
Saturday.
