The Work Safety Committee under China's State Council, the Cabinet, yesterday
urged the enterprises held by the central government to ensure safe work ahead
of the Beijing Olympics.
The committee in a circular told the enterprises to check for and eliminate
the hidden factors that might cause major accidents.
It also asked them to work out emergency response plans and drill for
possible dangerous situation.
Safety checking should be especially stepped up in places where people
congregate, such as train, bus and subway stations, airports, hotels and
recreational venues, the circular said.
To monitor the transportation of dangerous substances should also be beefed
up, it urged.
