Japanese politicians from both the ruling coalition and the opposition bloc
applauded yesterday the talks between visiting Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo
Fukuda and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
The two premiers' consensus on seeking common interests in broad fields
including environment and economy showed their common understanding that the two
countries' such cooperation will be in the interests of the world and the human
being, said Bummei Ibuki, secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic
Party (LDP).
The two leaders' reaffirmation on further developing the mutual beneficial
relationship based on common strategic interests will become an important basis
for pushing forward the development of bilateral ties, said Kazuo Kitagawa,
secretary general of the LDP's minor coalition partner the New Komeito Party.
Yukio Hatoyama, secretary general of the major opposition Democratic Party of
Japan, said the signal of strengthening the future-oriented Japan-China
friendship is delightful.
