Door of dialogue still opens to Dalai: Chinese Premier

The door of dialogue still opens to the Dalai Lama, so long as he gives up
the position for "Tibet Independence", so long as he recognizes Tibet and Taiwan
as inalienable parts of the Chinese territory, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao
in Beijing today. "We can see clearly from these two key issues how
hypocritical the Dalai Lama is," said the Premier at a press conference upon
conclusion of the annual session of the National People's Congress, China's top
legislature. "I would like to ask, from the appalling incidents in Lhasa to
similar turmoil in other parts of China and the mobs to attack Chinese
diplomatic missions overseas, don't these conducts have nothing to do with the
Dalai Lama?" Wen questioned. He noted, however, China's original proposition
is still unchanged. "We mean what we say," he said. "We need to watch what the
Dalai Lama does. It is up to his actions." On March 14, violence involving
beating, smashing property, looting and arson broke out in Lhasa. There are
ample facts proving the riot was organized, premeditated, masterminded and
incited by the Dalai Lama clique, Wen told reporters.
