Mindulle hits Zhejiang (Pic) 4/7/2004

Strong tropical storm Mindulle, a Korean name for dandelion, landed Saturday in east China's Zhejiang Province. Wind speed topped grade ten at the eye of storm Mindulle, about 25 to 33 meters per second.-Xinhua

Strong tropical storm, dubbed Mindulle, killed one more person and still left two missing at Taihu Lake in Huzhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province, according to latest report of local government.

Death toll rose to two by press time. According to local sources, body of a female victim, 37-year-old Hu Jinmei, was discovered Sunday noon. Hu, mother of the drowned 12-year-old boy,was among the three missing amidst the rainstorm as previously reported.

Both dead were fallen from a boat belonging to Wuhu City in east China's Anhui Province.

A total of 57 people have been saved out of boats at Taihu Lake,according to local government.

Rescuers are still searching for the two missing.

Mindulle, a Korean name for dandelion, landed in Yueqing City in Zhejiang province Saturday. Under its influence, areas surrounding Taihu Lake was hit by torrential rains and gales.

Taihu Lake is one of China's five major fresh water lakes and covers an area of 2,400 square kilometers.
