Five people have been reported killed during the past three days from
lightening strikes in southChina's Guangdong Province, which has been exposed to
continuous rainstorms recently.
It is forecast that heavy rains, gales and thunder storms will keep pounding
parts of the province till Wednesday, including Guangzhou, capital of the
province.
Locals have been warned of attacks of lightening, mountain torrents and
landslides.
The province experiences thunderstorms an average of 80 days a year, said the
provincial office in charge of thunder attack relief work. Last year 48 people
were killed and 39 others injuredin lightening attacks.
In another development, 46 people were reported killed last week in Guangzhou
in road accidents, which were relevant with scorching weather, a 48.4 percent
rise over the previous week.
