The rain belt is moving to north China while heatwaves are going to affect the south in the next 10 days, according to the Central Meteorological Station.

According to the weather forecast and rainstorm alarm released on Saturday, most parts of north China will receive torrential rains and thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night, including Beijing, Tianjin and provinces of Hebei, Henan, Shanxi and Shandong.

Parts of the western regions like Gansu Province, Chongqing Municipality and Guizhou Province are also included. The rainfall would hopefully relieve the heat and drought in most parts of the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region that had been lingering for a week, said the forecast.

The station warned the above-mentioned regions to guard against possible disasters like flooding and landslide.

Meanwhile, most parts of the south, like the drainage area of the Huai and Han rivers and south of the Yangtze River, will become hot and dry and see temperatures rise to over 35 degrees Celsius in the next 10 days.

In addition, the station said the ninth typhoon this year, Kompasu, had weakened to a tropical storm in south China's Guangdong Province by Friday night and would have no more influence on the country.
