Du Jianping celebrates after winning the menĄ¯s 100m freestyle in S3 class
with a world record yesterday to clinch the first gold for China at the Beijing
Paralympic Games. The 25-year-old Du, who set a Paralympic record in the
morningĄ¯s heat in 1:42.95, slashed that time to 1:35.21 in the final, shaving an
astonishing 5.87 seconds off the previous world mark. China won three golds on
